A plain-English summary of how texspark handles your data, your license, and your money. Last updated June 27, 2026.
Privacy
texspark is a desktop app, not a cloud service. Most of what you do never leaves your Mac.
What stays on your Mac
- Your .tex files and project state
- Editor preferences and tab session
- API keys for Claude / ChatGPT (in the macOS Keychain)
- License key and trial timestamps (also in the Keychain)
- AI Agent conversation history (in ~/Library/Application Support/io.texspark.app/chatHistory.json)
What texspark.io receives
- Auto-update checks — periodically the app asks our server whether a newer version exists. The request includes the current app version and your macOS version. Nothing else, no identifier.
What our payment processor (LemonSqueezy) receives
LemonSqueezy is the merchant of record for texspark. When you buy:
- Your email and payment details go directly to LemonSqueezy. We never see your card.
- License activation includes a machine name (e.g., Jacob’s MacBook) so you can identify slots in the Manage License screen.
LemonSqueezy’s own Privacy Policy governs the data they handle
What Anthropic / OpenAI receive
The AI Agent talks directly from your Mac to the provider you chose, using your API key:
- Your prompts and conversation
- The active document text, if Attach document is toggled on
texspark.io is not in this loop. The provider’s own policies apply.
What we don’t do
- No analytics or telemetry
- No crash reports that include document content
- No account, login, or cloud sync

Terms
A texspark license grants you a non-transferable right to install and use the app on up to 3 Macs you personally own or control.
License
- One-time payment, no subscription.
- Activation count is enforced server-side. You can free a slot any time from Manage License inside the app.
- License keys may not be shared, resold, or transferred between users.
Updates
- All 0.x.x updates are included for the lifetime of your license.
- Major version upgrades (1.0 after 0.x, etc.) may be released as a separate purchase, with a discount for existing holders. The policy is announced before each major release.
As-is, no warranty
texspark is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. We don’t claim it’s bug-free, and we’re not liable for damages caused by software defects.
Termination
If you breach these terms — for example, by sharing keys publicly — we may revoke your license. We’ll email you first.
Refunds
Bought texspark and changed your mind? Email support@texspark.io within 14 days of purchase and we’ll refund in full. No questions, no forms.
After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion — please reach out anyway and we’ll do our best.
LemonSqueezy processes the refund, usually within 5–10 business days.
