(v0.1.0) Basic Structure

The first release of texspark — a native macOS LaTeX editor that puts writing, building, and previewing in a single window.

  • Text editor — a native editor with LaTeX syntax highlighting (commands, math, environments, braces, comments), a line-number gutter, and full macOS text input including IME (한글 / 中文 / 日本語), the Services menu, and the system Find bar. Bracket and environment auto-completion insert pairs and scaffolding as you type.
  • Document tabs & build-target pin — keep multiple .tex files open across tabs, and pin one as the build target so ⌘B always compiles the project root, no matter which sub-file you’re editing.
  • Terminal emulator — a real embedded zsh terminal (powered by SwiftTerm) runs your compile command inside the app, streaming the live log where you can see it.
  • PDF viewer — a built-in preview with a file-system watcher that reloads the instant a build finishes, while holding your scroll position.
  • Customizable builder⌘B runs a compile command you control, with ready-made templates for xelatex / pdflatex / lualatex / latexmk, plus bibtex and makeindex chaining. Optionally jump the PDF to your current line after each rebuild.
  • SyncTeX — forward search from source to the matching spot in the PDF, and ⌘-click anywhere in the PDF for inverse search back to the source line. Included sub-files resolve to the project root’s PDF automatically.
  • Build issues — the compile log is parsed into a clickable list of errors and warnings; click one to jump straight to the offending source line.
  • Outline — a live section tree from \part down to \paragraph, parsed across \input / \include and aware of \newcommand sectioning aliases (with #N argument substitution). Expand/collapse state is remembered across launches.
  • Themes — Light, Dark, and System appearances that recolor the editor, gutter, terminal, and panels together.
  • Preferences — a settings window (⌘,) with Appearance, Compile, Editor, and Outline sections, plus standard File commands (New / Open / Close / Close All / Save / Save As) defaulting to .tex.
